MUMBAI (Reuters) – The fallout from a three-day rampage that killed nearly 200 people in Mumbai threatened on Sunday to unravel India‘s improving ties with Pakistan and prompted the resignation of India’s security minister.
I have no idea if the resignation of India’s security minister will result in better security for India, but isn’t it nice to see someone own a big screw up?
Here in the USA it’s almost incomprensible that a leader would accept responsibility for a screw up, much less resign, unprodded. The Bush administration’s reaction to 9/11 is Case 1. The Wall Street CEO reaction to the bankruptcy of their industry is Case 2. Here in America distaster means you need to blow more smoke, point more fingers, and realize that disasters are opportunities. Launch unrelated invasions; extract more bonuses from the system. Own the opportunity!
