Commenting on Novak

Despite betraying the identity of Valerie Plame, Robert Novak continues to pontificate from the op-ed pages of the Washington Post. His latest entry, “GOP Senators Opt for Pork”, is a hilarious attempt to resuscitate the GOP image as the party of fiscal austerity. After signing on to the greatest giveaways of public money in history—the Bush tax cuts (01 and 03), the Medicare Prescription Drug Act, the Highway Bill, and on and on—Novak complains that Republicans need to get back to their roots. Commenters on the site leap on him:

So if the GOP sold its soul, then why should we continue to trust GOP members to suddenly change course? How about we just sweep as many as possible from office in 2008 and see what we get with new blood?

And this comes as a surprise to who? Just ask your pal Sen. Lott about pork. He’s now leaving his ‘hallowed’ position early just to make more money before the two-year restriction ban is put in place.

Ask him about where God, country and patriotism fall in line – – AFTER the Almighy Dollar!

Principals, since when have any of the current Republicans had principals? I have supported the party through thick and thin for 40 years, but no MORE! These people are sick, insane, traitors selling the nation for 30 pieces of silver! Another story today about the sick torture this gang of “Christians” have promoted and supported, that is principals? Bragging about stealing the national treasury borrowed from the Chinese to get re-elected, that is principals? Supporting this sick Fascist texan in the WH, that is principals? Supporting the WH in the treasonous outing of a CIS NOC agent, that is principals. Not impeaching the criminals in the WH, that is principals? Not one of the Republicans should be re-elected, and those not up for re-elcetion should resign…that would be principals!

The Republican Party brand has never been more indelible. They’re the party of greed, hatred, division and self-interest. The party that lies, cheats and rolls over at the drop of a dollar. The party that would murder hundreds of thousands of civilians to keep power and the profit that accompanies it.

Common, lace curtain trailer trash.

Screw Mitch McConnell. He’s up for re-election this year and if we Kentuckians have our way, he’ll be gone. He’s powerful, but not someone who represents the average Kentuckian. That being said, what he’s saying here is meant for his constituents: “I’ll continue to bring home the bacon.” Well, Mitch, we don’t want your kind of “pork”. Most of us are sick of your “take-over” of the University of Louisville, where we have “Elaine Chau” auditorium, and “McConnell Hall” – which used to be “Ford Hall”. In the last several years, the only speakers that seem to come to campus are Republican. No more can we have Democrat-Republican debates by candidates on campus. Getting rid of McConnell would be the best thing for Kentucky and for the country. DITCH MITCH ’08!

this headline assumes that the GOP has had a soul to sell to the devil…I have seen little evidence of that… all I see is a bunch of fat cats trying to make the eye of the needle bigger than it is…squeeze it anyway you want…the headline like this author will not fit through.

What are you upset about Novak? Are you upset that the GOP has finally recognized that women have the right to vote, child labor is wrong and that slavery is illegal?

Those were the good old days, eh Bob?
